Learn about mountaineering in Jostedalen!
The introduction rock climbing course lasts three days and takes place in Jostedalen and in the high, alpine mountains of Hurrungane in Jotunheimen.
Learn about alpine climbing; rope techniques and situation-adapted safety technology; belaying and introduction to the safety equipment; practical techniques and planning of alpine multi-pitch tours; abseiling and retreat; interpretation of a topo; risk management; alpine dangers and knots.

Bretun Lodge
Our lodge “Bretun” is located in Krundalen, a side valley to Jostedalen. It is about 2.5 km from the village center Gjerde, which has a shop and petrol station, cafe, hotel, and a camping site. It is also close to the glaciers and mountains in Jostedalen.
“Bretun” has accommodation capacity for about 25 persons, shower/toilet, drying room, and a washing machine, dining room with kitchen (self-catering), dishwasher, and a spacious and cozy fireplace lounge.
There are no bedclothes in Bretun, bring your sleeping bag. Rooms with 4-8 bunks.

CLOTHING:
Rain geart (jacket and trousers), woolen cap, mittens, warm pullover, wool underwear, clothes for indoor use.
BOOTS:
Solid hiking boots, rock climbing shoes and shoes for indoor use.
DIVERSE:
Rucksack, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, compass, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid kit, thermos bottle. All necessary maps are provided by us.
EQUIPMENT:
Helmet, a sit harness, 4 sewn slings (2×120 cm and 2×60 cm), preferably Polyamide (PA), 6 karabiners incl. two screw (HMS) karabiners.

To participate in this course, you need to be in good physical shape and you need mountain hiking experience.

We do not refund any fees if participants don’t meet or interrupt the course. Guests who are not fit to the physical requirements can be excluded from the course by our guides without any right to compensation.
